Arvest Bank to host 3rd Annual Veteran’s Day Art Contest

LAWTON, Okla. (August 4, 2017) – Arvest Bank is pleased to announce the third edition of its Annual Veteran’s Day Art Contest in conjunction with The Armed Services YMCA. Every child in kindergarten through sixth grade will have the opportunity to draw a picture based on the theme “My Military Family.”
 
Nine children in three different age divisions will win Visa Gift Cards. The age divisions are Kindergarten – 1st grade, 2nd – 3rd grade and 4th – 6th grade. Winners in each division will receive $100 Visa Gift Cards, while runners-up will receive $50 gift cards and third-place finishers $25.
 
The winners will be announced during the second night of the annual Armed Services YMCA YFry on November 9 at Great Plains Coliseum. Attendees at that event can also vote on a new category: Best In Show, the winner of which will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. All of the submitted artwork will be at the YFry for attendees to view.
 
Entries must be returned or postmarked by Friday, October 20. They may be sent to Arvest Bank, Attn: Angela Spradlin at 5201 SW Lee Blvd., Lawton, OK 73505. There is no cost to enter. Entries must be in color and on a white 6x8 sheet of paper to be judged. Oversized and three-dimensional entries will not be judged. 
 
All artwork submitted by a child of active duty or retired (20-plus years of service) members of Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard/Reserves will be eligible to be entered into the Armed Services YMCA National art contest. Entrants do not need to be a member of military family to be awarded at the local level.
 
Children attending the YFry will also have the opportunity to create a brand new debit card for Arvest Bank. Entry forms and drawing utensils will be given out at the YFry, so children can create whatever they would like to see on a debit card. Arvest and The Armed Services YMCA will then pick a winner. The debit card will feature the artwork as well as The Armed Services YMCA logo. The winning card will then be available for customers to choose as their debit card.

Lawton Food Bank & Countrymart hold Supermarket Sweep

The Lawton Food Bank has partnered with Countrymart to hold a Supermarket Sweep. 

Tickets can be purchased at any Lawton Arvest Bank location, Red River Federal Credit Union, Oklahoma Blood Institute and the Lawton Food Bank. 

Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20. 

The drawing will be held on November 3 and the sweep will be held at 9am on Saturday, November 18 (the weekend before Thanksgiving). 

The winner will be given 3 minutes to run through Countrymart and load their cart with as many groceries as they can.

Rules and limitations apply. Country Mart and Lawton Food Bank are not responsible for any injury caused during this event. Items in cart may not be stacked higher than the cart handle bar, however bottom rack on cart may be utilized. Items must be food/household items. No alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards or pharmaceuticals. Limited to six items of any one product. If winner is unable to physically participate in sweep, they may designate another person to run the event as long as they are 18 years of age or older. Only one person will be allowed to run the sweep. Do not have to be present for drawing in order to win.

Investing in Women Lecture Series Continues on Oct. 12

Arvest Bank is excited to announce its fourth meeting of the continually growing Investing in Women lecture series luncheons in 2017! The next meeting is Thursday, October 12 in the auditorium of Building 100 on the Great Plains Technology Center campus in Lawton, Okla.! 

The keynote speaker will be Candi Copass-Bridges, the owner. She’ll be discussing “Strong Mind! Strong Body! Workout Tips for the Workplace” from noon - 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
 
A $5 donation to support Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra is greatly appreciated but not necessary.

Arvest is Proud to Support Texoma Gives

Arvest Bank is set to support Texoma Gives, a 16-hour day of giving that raises funds for non-profits in 11 counties around southern Oklahoma and northern Texas, on Thursday, September 7. The event, which is coordinated by the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation, includes 15 non-profits based around Lawton.

The non-profits will be set up at Lawton Community Theatre (1316 NW Bell Ave) from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-11 a.m. Arvest will be on location grilling and serving hot dogs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Arvest Bank is proud to support such a great initiative like Texoma Gives,” Angela Spradlin, Marketing Manager for Arvest Bank said. “It is important to us to always give back to the community. An event like this one that brings so many non-profits together provides a perfect opportunity to raise funds for all these great organizations that serve Southwest Oklahoma.”

More than 200 non-profits are set to take part with a goal to raise a total of $1 million dollars. In 2017, 146 non-profits raised $750,000 from 4,882 donations, 96% of which online donations.

The Lawton-based non-profits are Arts For All, Blue Moon Productions, Center for Creative Living, Family Promise, Goodwill, KCCU, Lawton Community Theatre, Lawton Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, Lawton Public School Foundation, Lawton Music Club, Marie Detty, Teen Court and United Way.
